Friendly, bright and fresh onto the mortgage advice market. Alex Parr knows how to get people onto or continue to move up the property ladder. Her can-do approach and personable nature makes what can be quite a dull and daunting part of the home-buying process feel exciting and positive.
She came to me after working as part of a wider company looking to start up on her own. It was from our first conversations that I knew her brand needed to reflect the upbeat character that she is.

Brand naming
Alex’s first hurdle when launching her brand ‘was what do I call it?!’ So we started with gaining a better understanding of her business and why it would be different from any other mortgage advise service out there.
We were keen to separate Alex from the stuffiness of the sector and help her stand out from the crowd. The naming process was led by this approach, offering names that were not only distinctive to Alex but gave potential customers an idea of what they would get with her.
But naming is a tough process, at the end of the day Alex needed to run with something she felt comfortable with, so she landed on more of a descriptive ‘Alex Parr Financial’ with the intention of renaming once she was more established.
Brand idea and rollout
Once we had a name nailed, the whole project rolled seamlessly. The exploration phase gave us two ideas based on the name, one that was more in the financial world (more professional and established) and one which felt more like the person you would be dealing with (the light, bright, and personable Alex).
Once we knew which direction the brand needed to take (the friendlier route) I then started work on a concept that connected the name with the strapline ‘Your friend in home finance’.
Mel was amazing at getting to know and understand me and created a brand and strapline that is perfectly suited to me and my personality. When I decided to use my own name as the company name, I thought to myself, how is Mel going to make this look good? But she exceeded my expectations. She listened to every word in every conversation we had previously had and created a brand that I love. I can’t thank Mel enough for making a daunting process easy and fun and I’m looking forward to working with her on future projects.
